Mallard is a markup language that makes it easier for you to create better documentation. Mallard documents are topic-oriented: They provide information in small chunks that match your users’ needs without forcing them to read lengthy manuals. Mallard comes in two flavors: traditional XML, and the lightweight syntax Ducktype.

Mallard makes writers happy

  • Easily assemble documents from topics. Reuse. Remix. Stop writing maps by hand.

  • Write links once. Navigation links are automatically two-way. Users can find their way no matter which page is page one.

  • Track the progress and status of each topic for multiple versions and deliverables.

  • Single source with powerful conditional processing with branching.
